The Governing Body has a broad membership. There are parent governors who are elected by parents and serve a four-year term. We also have a number of governors nominated by the local authority. There are two teachers and a staff member elected by those staff groups. The Head Teacher is also a member of the Governing Body. The final category of governors is Community Governors. These are chosen by the Governing Body for their specific skills, experience or background and perhaps to fill gaps in the existing membership.

The governing body typically meets every half term. A large part of the day-to-day responsibilities of the Governing Body are delegated to committees. Currently we have the following committees:

Audit/Resources – deals with all aspects of financial and human resources. Its remit now includes health, safety and premises, which covers all aspects of the School's infrastructure including health and safety policy and actions.
Teaching & Learning - deals with teaching and learning targets, performance and reviews, test and exam results. This committee also reviews the curriculum.
Pastoral – considers all aspects of student conduct and welfare including safeguarding. Also forms appeal committees.
Chairs' Steering Group (the Chairs of all the other Committees and Chair and Vice-Chair of the Governing Body together with the Head Teacher) - the aim of this group is to consider longer-term strategic issues and direction of the School. It also tries to ensure that there is "joined-up thinking" across the committees.
